Lionel Messi Receives 5th Golden Shoe Award For Europe's Top Scorer

Lionel Messi, the talented Barcelona forward, was awarded with his fifth Golden Boot on Tuesday afternoon, Marca reports.

The footballer was given the award after being the top goalscorer in Europe last season with 34 goals in LaLiga Santander.

He was handed the trophy by MARCA director Juan Ignacio Gallardo and the Argentine was as humble as ever with his comments.
“I did not expect all of this when I started," said Messi.

"My dream was to be a professional, to be able to succeed in football.

"There was some recognition for his teammates at the Blaugrana as they help him secure these individual accolades.

"I enjoy the work, the effort and, above all, the teammates," he added when asked about what he likes about football.

"I am in the best team in the world, I am next to the best in the world in their positions and that makes everything easier [when it comes to] winning these awards."

The 31-year-old also spoke about the last 16 draw of the Champions League, where Barcelona will play Lyon.

"Lyon was not the strongest name [in the hat], but it will be complicated," said Messi.

"They were equal when they played [Manchester] City; they will be difficult to advance against."It's a long way away, a lot of things can happen between now and February.

"We don't know how they're going to be, how we're going to be, but we know it's going to be a complicated game."

Abdullahi Babalele, son-in-law of Atiku Abubakar was docked today on a new charge of laundering $140,000. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission who brought him before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, did not state the recipient of the money, but it fits the N50million gift sent by Atiku to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, days before the election. Babalele faces a two-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of $140,000.00. An airbase housing US and coalition troops in Iraq has been hit by rockets, according to US security sources. The Al-Asad base was reportedly hit by multiple rockets. It is unclear if there have been any casualties. It come after top Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani was killed in a drone strike in Baghdad on Friday, on the orders of US President Donald Trump. A Nigerian lady reportedly lost a job after being photoshopped on a naked body in a tweet which went viral.  The photos was attached to a tweet describing how Marlians will be turning up for Naira Marley's concert which was held last night.  Commenting on the aftermath of the viral photo, Media personality Kimani disclosed that the lady lost the gig because she was blacklisted by the company that wanted to hire her.  She tweeted;  This is rather unfair, knowing this was Photoshopped. Sent this lady's handle to a client yesterday morning only to receive an email just now saying she's been blacklisted. Just coming here now to see this must have been the reason she lost the gig. Kimani also served an update on the action she took. She revealed that she sent in the real photo as an evidence to overturn the blacklisting.

On Friday, the US Senate and House of Representatives voted unanimously to end the 35-day partial federal government shutdown with legislation to temporarily fund many agencies, but without the $5.7bn President Donald Trump had demanded this year to help build a wall on the US-Mexico border.   Later on Friday, President Trump signed the bill, which will provide funding through February 15 and end the longest government shutdown in US history. 30 dead, 42 injured after suicide bombers attack viewing center in Borno 30 persons have been confirmed dead while 42 others have been seriously injured in a multiple bomb blasts that rocked a Borno village on Sunday night. A statement signed by the Director of Search and Rescue Operation, Borno State Emergency Management Agency, Usman Kachalla, says the bomb blast incident occurred at Mandarari village in Konduga local government area of the state at exactly 8:50pm on Sunday. Three suicide bombers detonated Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, at a viewing centre which killed no fewer than 17 people, including a mobile policeman.
