The Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, Abdulmaliki Sumonu has said that no fewer than 235 officers of the command had been lost to the Boko Haram insurgency in the last six years. He made the revelation at the investiture of an award on him by a non-governmental organisation, Actors Security Watch Organisation. Sumonu said the award was in recognition of services rendered by living officers and officers who died in defence of the nation. “This award is not just for the commissioner of police, but the entire police command for serving the nation diligently,” he said.
