N33bn alleged fraud: How N18bn was paid into Mompha’s bank account —Witness A prosecution witness, Peter Ademola Adegoke, who works as a Compliance Officer with Fidelity Bank Plc, on Friday (today) told Justice Abdullai M. Liman of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, how the sum of N18bn was paid into the account of a company, Ismalob Global Investments, belonging to Ismaila Mustapha, also known as Mompha. Mompha was arraigned on November 25, 2019 on 14 counts bordering on money laundering to the tune of N33bn. The EFCC made this known on Friday in a series of tweets via its verified Twitter handle @officialEFCC. Continuing, EFCC states, “At today’s sitting, the first prosecution witness, PW1, Anne Nnenna Ezekannagha, a manager in the Customer Service Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria, told the court that Mompha’s company, Ismalob Ventures, was not registered with the CBN. “She also revealed that he (Mompha) did not have the license to operate as a Bureau de Change

USSD: Telcos Threaten To Disconnect Banks

Telecommunications operators in the country said they may be forced to disconnect the links that allow bank customers perform financial transactions on their phones. This came as the operators insisted the banks must pay for the use of Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), which rides on telecoms infrastructure. USSD is a Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication technology that is used to send text between a mobile phone and an application programme in the network. It is currently the best available communications technology to deliver mobile financial services to low-income customers. The operators had recently announced plans to start charging mobile users for every session of USSD, aside charges by banks. The announcement had sparked outrage, prompting the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami, to order its suspension. Woman Kills Her Husband By Squeezing His Manhood In Edo State

Men of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a middle-aged woman identified as Eki Ekhator for allegedly killing her husband by squeezing his manhood. The incident was said to have happened at Ukhiri community in Ikpoba-Okha local government area. Sources said the woman had a quarrel with her late husband after accusing him of infidelity. She was said to have always had fracas with her husband any time he returned home late. On that fateful day, the source said the deceased slapped his wife after a fracas and the woman went for his trousers and held onto his manhood in a violent manner. The man was said to have collapsed and later confirmed dead at the hospital. It was learnt that men of the Homicide department in the Edo state police command are currently investigating the murder. Sources at the police headquarters said the suspect has blamed the incident on the devil. Police spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, could not be reached for comments.
