Buhari's aides react as Cardi B jokingly seeks Nigerian citizenship over Trump’s airstrike on Iran.  Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairman of diaspora commission, and Bashir Ahmad, President Buhari's aide on new media, reacted to Cardi B's tweet saying she was filing for Nigerian citizenship.  Bashir Ahmad  the personal assistant on new media to President Muhammadu Buhari, also reacted to Cardi B's tweet.  The presidential aide also jokingly tweeted that Cardi B's choice of Nigeria has put an end to the usual playful rivalry between the country and its West African neighbor.

Data from the US travel and tourism office shows a 21 per cent drop in the number of Nigerians travelling to the country, the largest global drop-off in visitors to the US. As of 2019 October, 34,000 fewer Nigerians travelled to the US compared to the previous year. Spokesperson for Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Brigadier-General Ramezan Sharif, has said the United States and Israel will have their momentary joy turned into mourning over the murder of its commander, General Kaseem Soleimani.  Soleimani and an Iraqi ally were struck down at the Baghdad Airport on Thursday.  The US say it was a decisive defence action, claiming the IRGC commander was planning attacks on American citizens in Iraq. An inmate who escaped from a South Carolina Department of Corrections work crew in 1979 was captured in Delaware on New Year's Day, according to the department. Jose Chico Romero, 64, had been living under an assumed name when he was first arrested December 28, 2019 after showing Dover police a fake ID, according to Chrysti Shain, director of communications for the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Police processed and released him under the fake name Arnaldo Figueroa but his fingerprints later came back as a match for wanted Romero. He was arrested on Wednesday. He is being held in Georgetown, Delaware, on a fugitive warrant and has waived extradition. He is also charged with public intoxication, loitering, trespassing, forgery, criminal impersonation and being an out-of-state fugitive. A Nigerian lady reportedly lost a job after being photoshopped on a naked body in a tweet which went viral.  The photos was attached to a tweet describing how Marlians will be turning up for Naira Marley's concert which was held last night.  Commenting on the aftermath of the viral photo, Media personality Kimani disclosed that the lady lost the gig because she was blacklisted by the company that wanted to hire her.  She tweeted;  This is rather unfair, knowing this was Photoshopped. Sent this lady's handle to a client yesterday morning only to receive an email just now saying she's been blacklisted. Just coming here now to see this must have been the reason she lost the gig. US President Donald Trump has authorized a US military strike near Baghdad's airport which resulted in the death of Iran’s Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani, the Pentagon confirmed in a statement on Thursday. “At the direction of the President, the US military has taken decisive defensive action to protect US personnel abroad by killing Qasem Soleimani,” the Pentagon said in a statement. “This strike was aimed at deterring future Iranian attack plans. The United States will continue to take all necessary action to protect our people and interests wherever they are around the world.” The Pentagon said that the assassination was a response to “attacks on coalition bases in Iraq,” accusing Soleimani of being the mastermind behind a recent spate of missile attacks on joint US and Iraqi military installations.
