Inmate Escaped U.S. Prison In 1979, Recaptured On New Year's Eve

An inmate who escaped from a South Carolina Department of Corrections work crew in 1979 was captured in Delaware on New Year's Day, according to the department.

Jose Chico Romero, 64, had been living under an assumed name when he was first arrested December 28, 2019 after showing Dover police a fake ID, according to Chrysti Shain, director of communications for the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

Police processed and released him under the fake name Arnaldo Figueroa but his fingerprints later came back as a match for wanted Romero.

He was arrested on Wednesday.

He is being held in Georgetown, Delaware, on a fugitive warrant and has waived extradition.

He is also charged with public intoxication, loitering, trespassing, forgery, criminal impersonation and being an out-of-state fugitive.

Romero was serving an 18-year sentence for armed robbery when he managed to escape from a work crew in Anderson County, South Carolina, on December 13, 1979.

After he is returned to the South Carolina Department of Corrections, Romero will be required to serve the remainder of his original sentence, which is about seven years, plus any time added for an escape conviction, Shain said.

Senator Biodun Olujimi Orders Slapping Of National Assembly Staff Over Lift

Some workers at the national assembly created a scene on Monday, after Biodun Olujimi, senator representing Ekiti south, allegedly asked her aide to assault a member of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN). The lawmaker was reportedly irked by the decision of the PASAN member to ride in an elevator with her. The senator was on her way to the public hearing of the senate committee on petroleum downstream, investigating the N5 trillion subsidy payment to the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC). Zimbabwean Woman Kills Her Husband With An Axe Over Christmas Gift (Photos)

A woman is currently at large after hacking her husband to death with an axe during dispute over Christmas gift. Homicide detectives in Mutare are looking for the woman from Chikanga in Mutare, Zimbabwe, who disappeared soon after axing her husband to death following a domestic dispute on December 24. Anesu Mafokosho is alleged to have axed Vitalis Mudhumo, 26, at around 3pm soon after the couple returned home from the city centre where they had gone shopping. The dispute which ended in the death of the husband was sparked by gifts which the couple had bought for their child for Christmas. Cristiano Ronaldo  has emerged on the top spot of   Instagram Sport Rich List  for 2018 ahead of rivals   Lionel Messi   and  Neymar. According to HopperHQ.com, an Instagram scheduling tool, that analyses data to reveal a list of the highest paid celebrities and influencers on the social media platform, brands will have to pay Cristiano Ronaldo $750,000 per post on his Instagram page.
