Agents with U.S. Customs and the Drug Enforcement Administration have seized $18 million dollars’ worth of cocaine disguised as banana heading to a prison in Texas.   According to reports, the Wayne Scott Unit Prison Farm outside of Freeport, Texas, received a couple pallets of bananas as a donation. When two sergeants went to pick up the pallets, they found the drugs.   “One of the sergeants noticed one of the boxes didn’t seem quite right, looked a little further, removed that box off the pallets, looked inside and saw something extraordinarily suspicious,” Jeremy Desel with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice told KTRK.   Hidden under bundles of bananas were 540 kilos of cocaine. An Indian man was caught having sex with a homeless child in his car in Lusaka, Zambia. The unnamed Indian man enticed the poor girl with a pack of fast food last night and drove her to a corner where he had sex with her. Passersby who noticed movement coming from the car investigated and found the Indian man on top of the street kid sweating and panting. He was immediately apprehended by vigilante members after the child narrated how she had been hungry and he gave her some leftover chicken from  Big Bite eatery and drove her to a spot to sexually molest her. The Indian has been locked up at Kabwata Police Station and is expected to be charged for defilement, rape and obtaining pecuniary advantage of a minor.

The Federal Government has released N22.68 billion for the settlement of retirement benefits of former workers of the defunct Nigeria Airways Limited (NAL). The other N20 billion is for the revitalization of public universities in line with demands of the Academic Staff of Universities (ASUU). Newly appointed Finance Minister Hajia Zainab Ahmed, who broke the news yesterday to reporters in Abuja noted that the initial submission regarding the retirement benefits of ex-NAL workers in liquidation was N78 billion. She said:- “The amount was verified by the Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit (PICA) and other relevant stakeholders in line with the conditions of service of Nigeria Airways and other extant rules and regulations. “At the end of the verification, the sum of N45 billion was agreed as the total retirement benefits of the affected staff.” The former workers have not been paid their retirement benefits for the past 15 years despite the liquidation whic
