A Clinical Microbiologist, Dr Tony Mbume, has advised women to stop wearing tight jeans, synthetic panties and leggings, to prevent vaginal infections. According to him, most Nigerian females wear these synthetic pants, leggings and tight jeans in the name of fashion, without considering the health implications. Mbume, who works with CIAGIN Medical Laboratory, Oke-Afa, Isolo, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that synthetic wears caused the vagina to ‘overheat’, which could disrupt its ecosystem. He said that under wears made of latex, nylon or polyester and synthetic materials could trap moisture and warmth, making the vagina vulnerable to different types of infection “Synthetic panties can cause the vagina area to overheat and this can sometimes cause burning sores, itching or irritate the sensitive skin, as well as causing blisters. “The friction caused by walking in tight pants and jeans can irritate the skin, resulting in the formation of blisters,’’ he said. ...

Against all odds, against the political permutations of Italian politics, Italy has elected its first black senator, a Nigerian immigrant who is a member of the country’s far-right, anti-immigrant League party. Toni Iwobi, the head of the party’s immigration department, was elected on Sunday (March 4) in Brescia, an industrial city in northern Italy. His election didn’t go down well with some people who slammed his choice to work against his own fellow immigrants. Iwobi’s party is an anti-immigrant party that has campaigned vigorously against the integration of African immigrants in the past. His party has explored several means whereby the influx of African immigrants into Italy can be halted Iwobi, 62, came to Italy in the 1970s on a student visa, got married to his Italian wife and became a councilor for the party in 1995. Iwobi said that he wasn’t against immigration but that he wanted people to travel to Italy. However the first black senator vowed to deport all immigran...

On 17th of January 2019, had Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Senate President, Bukola Saraki, landing in Washington D.C, U.S. As opposed to speculations, the presidential candidate visited the US, to meet with the US Chamber of Commerce, the US Congress, Nigerians in Diaspora and the Business community. Speculations of a likely US support of an Atiku presidency have been on and out, but the candidate gave life to the speculation when he referenced the huge support he enjoys across the US government, in an Interview in Hausa by VOA’s Aliyu Mustapha. Atiku when asked about the US support for him, stated; “There is no doubt because the United State is ready to support any country that is practicing democracy.” Recall that the U.S African Mission in a tweet, stated that there are 13.5m out of school children in 2018. What many saw as a normal tweet, was misread by many as a frontal US support for Atiku’s candidacy. Also, considering that the Government of Donald Trump and the policies of Atiku ...

US chip-maker Qualcomm claims it has won an injunction against Apple that effectively bans the import and sale of a number of iPhone models, ranging from the iPhone 6S to the iPhone X. The preliminary order, issued by a Chinese court, is the latest in step a continuing feud between the two tech giants over intellectual property. However, Apple says all of its iPhone models remain on sale in the country. The disputed patents relate to software rather than hardware. The injunction affects devices running older versions of Apple’s iOS operating system and not those running the latest version, iOS 12. The court found Apple had violated two of Qualcomm’s patents – one regarding photograph resizing and the other related to how apps are managed on a touch screen. “Apple continues to benefit from our intellectual property while refusing to compensate us,” said Don Rosenberg, general counsel of Qualcomm. However, Apple responded that the attempted ban was “another desperate move by a company ...
