F ormer US President  Barack Obama  has revealed his yearly favourite songs, movies and books and his wife  Michelle Obama 's book ' Becoming ' was named number one on the list. Some notable artists whose songs landed on his favourite music for 2018  are H.E.R.,  The Carters, Jay Rock, J. Cole, Janelle Monae ,  Normani  with  Khalid. R&B singer,  Usher Raymond  has officially filed for a divorce from his estranged wife and former manager,  Grace Miguel. This comes after Usher and Miguel confirmed their split in March following multiple lawsuits in which he was accused of infecting people with herpes. But the singer denied the allegations, insisting he had no intentions to cause harm. He also argued that the plaintiffs "assumed the risk" when they consented to have sex with him. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Usher who married Miguel in September 2015, about six years after they began dating, filed for a divorce from her on Friday in Atlanta.  TMZ reports that the legal documents list Dec. 24, 2017 as Usher and Grace's date of separation.  The documents state that the former couple have reached a confidential settlement agreement awaiting court approval. Militants linked to the Islamic State (IS) group have hoisted their flag in a Nigerian town after seizing control of it, three residents have told the BBC. Hundreds of people have fled the fishing town of Baga after the militants overran it on Wednesday night, the residents said. The militants seized weapons from a military base, and torched a naval base on the shores of Lake Chad, they said. The military denied Baga had fallen, saying the attack had been repelled. But PRNigeria, an agency well-connected with the military, quoted an intelligence officer as saying that troops had made a "tactical withdrawal" from their base after coming under attack. Two men have been arrested for robbery in Bayelsa State during the Christmas celebrations in Yenagoa the state capital. One of the suspects was said to have won a jackpot of N4m from a popular football lottery firm about three weeks earlier, before he was arrested over his involvement in armed robbery. According to sources, the suspect was also a popular member of a cult in the area, Punch metro reports. The sources, who said they were surprised by the development, noted that they were expecting the young man to use the money he had won to start a business or trade. They added that they were surprised that his N4m was already gone. The two robbers were arrested on Christmas Eve at Swali, a suburb of Yenagoa, near a popular new generation bank in the area. Promise Chukwudum, a student at the University of Regina, in Saskatchewan, Canada, has been found dead more than a month after he went missing. Police found his corpse in a creek area behind the Shell gas station on the corner of Sherwood Drive and McIntosh Street, at about 4:45 p.m. on December 21, 2018. The 19-year-old Computer Science student and rugby player went missing in the early hours of November 17. The police said there was no indication Chukwudum’s death was a result of criminal act. The Regina Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are conducting a death investigation to fully understand the circumstances of his death. As of Dec. 10, police said they had to consider the possibility that he may have sought shelter somewhere from the cold, because the night he disappeared, the temperatures dipped below -20 C.

Earlier today, a video went viral purportedly showing a family enjoying a meal at an eatery while their 'maid' was left sitting alone at a different table without food. A mild drama ensued on Tuesday, December 25th, when police officers tried to arrest a Nigerian drug dealer in South Africa. According to reports, the Nigerian drug dealer was accosted by the security operatives in Sunnyside, one of the oldest suburbs of the city of Pretoria, South Africa, following a tip-off. When the policemen tried to arrest the suspect, he refused and struggled with them - thereby causing a huge scene in the area. It is claimed that in the course of the struggle, the suspect's friends smuggled the drugs away and allegedly tried to take the guns from the plain-clothed police officers.
