Ganduje the Kano state Governor Sues Daily Nigerian For N3billion Over bribery Dollar Video

Kano state Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has sued an online platform, Daily Nigerian and its publisher, Jafaar Jafaar, for defamation. He is claiming N3billion in damages. Counsel to Ganduje, Nuradeen A. Ayagi in a writ of summons tendered before the High Court demanded the defendants to file an appearance before 14 days. The writ was dated 13 November. Daily Nigerian, had published stories and videos alleging that the Kano state Governor Ganduje collected $5 Million as kickback from contractors. Nuradeen asked the court to declare that the act of publishing and circulating libellous statements, false and doctored video clips attacking and impugning the character and integrity of the plaintiff amounts to defamation of character of the plaintiff by the defendants and thus wrongful.”Jafaar Jafaar, middle, says the Daily Nigerian will soon respond to the suit He also asked for order perpetually restraining the defendants, their agents and all persons and entities to whom they shar

An Indonesian lady who lost her fiance in the  Lion Air flight  which crashed into the Java Sea on the 29th of October, just minutes after taking off from Jakarta, killing 189 people, went ahead with her wedding despite the death of her man. The heartbroken lady,  Intan Syari  was due to marry her childhood sweetheart  Rio Nanda Pratama  on Sunday but he died on his way home to  Pangkal Pinang  for their wedding day. According to Syari, she wanted to fulfill his last wish, that was why she carried on with the wedding and posed for photos smiling while wearing her white gown and wedding ring.  In one of the photos, the lady was pictured posing with her fiancee's younger sister in place of him. Ms Syari wrote on Instagram: 'Even though I feel grief that I cannot describe, I still have to smile for you. Despite 9M Pregnant Nigerian Women, Only 2.4M Gets HIV Testing

With over nine million Nigerian women said to be pregnant every year, only about 3.6 million have access to antenatal care and about 2.4 million of them tested for HIV. This was disclosed by Head, Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT), Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Ijaodola Olugbenga. He said of the 2.4 million pregnant women that get testing for HIV/AIDS in the country annually, at least 64,000 of them are positive to the virus every year. Stating this during a two-day media dialogue on PMTCT in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, recently organised by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture (FMIC), he said the gap between pregnant women and those who are eventually tested for HIV is big because only 3.6 million access antenatal care. “The remaining five million plus do not access antenatal, both in private or public healthcare facilities, hence it is difficult getting them to undergo HIV tests, in other to

Owners of the mansions seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been unveiled. They are former governors, ex-ministers, top military officers and businessmen. Leading the pack is a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, who has forfeited some prized assets. Lost to the Federal Government by the ex-Minister are a multi-storey building in Banana Island Foreshore Estate in Ikoyi, Lagos; a real estate comprising six flats in Ikoyi and an estate of 21 mixed housing in Yaba, Lagos. Many properties allegedly linked with Diezani have also been placed under interim forfeiture by the anti-graft commission. Photos: Libyan Navy rescues 199 African migrants including Nigerians at sea

The Libyan Navy has rescued 199 illegal immigrants, including women and children, while attempting to reach Europe by sea. "A Libyan Coast Guard patrol rescued 179 men, 16 women and 4 children on board rubber boats in the middle of the sea," the Information Office of the Libyan Navy explained. The office added that the immigrants were of different African nationalities, including Nigeria. Four of them were from Egypt. The migrants were handed over to the immigration HQ of the Immigration Control Agency after providing them with humanitarian and medical assistance, according to the Information Office of the Libyan Navy.

Men burnt alive by mob after fake news spread via WhatsApp accused them of child kidnap

Two men were dragged out of a jail cell, beaten and burned alive by an angry mob after rumors accusing the men of being child abductors spread rapidly via WhatsApp. The false WhatsApp message talked of a "plague of child kidnappers" and three children, aged four, eight and 14, had been found murdered with their abdomens sliced open and their organs removed. The message claimed the criminals were involved in organ trafficking. In anger, the locals went to the station, dragged the innocent men out of jail and carried out jungle justice as the mother of one of the men watched the killing on a Facebook live stream. Ricardo Flores, a 21-year-old law student, and his uncle Alberto Flores, a 43-year-old farmer, were falsely accused after they were spotted near an elementary school amid the WhatsApp rumours. They were buying construction supplies for a water well when they were accosted by locals in San Vicente Boqueron, Mexico, on August 29, and taken into police custody

Nigerian Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has said the struggle in the country is between good and evil and not between the two major religions. According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, the VP spoke at a public lecture organised by the Council of Chief of Imams, Ikeja Division in Lagos with the theme “the role of Muslim leaders in the South-West towards achieving peaceful and successful 2019 elections.” Osinbajo said, “I want to say to you that it’s a battle between good and evil.
