The man accused of emptying R. Kelly’s homes while the singer was on tour and selling all the belongings to the highest bidder has turned himself in. According to Johns Creek Police Department, Alfonso Walker turned himself in Monday on charges stemming from Kelly's burglaries over Thanksgiving weekend. He was booked on 2 counts of burglary, 2 counts of theft by taking and 2 counts of theft by deception. Walker who is accused of clearing out Kelly’s two metro Atlanta homes, told police that the singer owed him money and this was his way of getting it back. Neighbors of the home in Johns Creek told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik said they just assumed the homeowner was moving because several trucks had been at the home for about a week.

Justice Yusuf Halilu of the Federal High Court, Abuja has denied Maryam Sanda, the woman who allegedly killed her husband, Bily aminu Bello, bail. Maryam, her mum Maimuna Sanda, her brother and one other person, were arraigned before the court today. Delivering judgment on her bail application, Justice Halilu said Maryam's counsel, Joseph Daudu, did not provide cogent reasons for him to grant her bail. The presiding judge said that Daudu had attached a medical report and requested for bail based on the health status of Mrs Sanda but that he did not prove to the court that the sickness cannotbe treated in a detention facility. Justice Halilu held that the fact that she is a nursing mother is not a general principle for granting bail, hence her denial of it. He, however, granted bail to her mother, brother and the third defendant on the condition that they must provide two sureties each, who must reside within the city center of Abuja. Omarosa Manigault, a Nigerian who is director of communications for the White House’s office of public liaison, has resigned. According to sources, Manigault who earns $180,000 per annum will leave the White House on January 20, 2017, exactly one yearafter President Donald Trump took office. It is not immediately clear why Omarosa resigned but the 43-year-old, who recently married John Newman, a Florida-based pastor, has been struggling to keep her job and family. A source said Omarosa’s departure is connected to the “internal war” within Trump cabinet. Her decision raises the expectation of round of departures from the White House going into the New Year. The White House has said that deputy national security adviser Dina Powell will leave her position early next year. At least 14 people have left Trump’s government. Omarosa was the director of African-American outreach in Trump’s campaign.

Boko Haram fighters battled Nigerian soldiers for about an hour on Wednesday as they tried to take over a military base, in the latest attack against troops in the restive northeast. A former local government official, a civilian militia member and a motorist who witnessed the shooting said the Islamist militants tried to storm the outpost in the village of Mainok in Borno state. Troops managed to repel the attack with the help of reinforcements but it comes after a series of similar raids targeting soldiers that is likely to stoke fears of a resurgence.
