Two planes carrying stranded Nigerians who were on their way to Europe - arrived Lagos state yesterday night. The first aircraft transported about 245 returnees while the second aircraft conveyed 142 passengers bringing the total number returned to 387...

Many of them reportedly revealed very sad andterrible tales of their plight. Some of them werein tears as they gave thanks to God for making it possible for them to come home alive. NCFRMI was actively involved, alongside otherpartners to receive the returnees.

US appears to back Zimbabwe coup as top official says it wants a "new era"

The United states appears to have thrown its weight behind the military coup which brought Robert Mugabe's 37 year reign to an end. In an interview with Reuters, acting Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Donald Yamamoto said: "It's a transition to a new era for Zimbabwe, that's really what we're hoping for."93-year old Mugabe has not resigned or been formally deposed but Yamamoto appeared to dismiss the idea of Mugabe remaining in a transitional or ceremonial role. South Africa’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Monroe, has denied reports of Xenophobic attacks in his country. Monroe denied that the attacks in South Africa are xenophobic and targetted at Nigerians. Toni Iwobi, the head of the party’s immigration department, was elected on Sunday (March 4) in Brescia, an industrial city in northern Italy. His election didn’t go down well with some people who slammed his choice to work against his own fellow immigrants.
