African philosopher, Professor Sophie Oluwwole, has died at the age of 83.
Oluwole who was the first female doctorate degree holder in philosophy in Nigeria, studied history, geography and philosophy at the University of Lagos

Russian President Vladimir Putin's Stasi ID card found in German archives

CNN) The discovery of an East German secret police ID card wouldn't normally attract much attention, but things get a lot more interesting when it's Vladimir Putin's. Issued in 1985, the document belonged to the then mid-ranking Soviet officer, now the President of Russia.  At the time, Putin worked for the KGB spy service as a liaison with the East German State Security Service (Staatssicherheitsdienst), nicknamed the "Stasi." From 1985 to 1990, Putin was stationed in Dresden, East Germany. The German newspaper Bild says the ID card found in the archives proves Putin was working for the Stasi, but the Stasi Records Agency (BStU) says it served a purely practical purpose. Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has threatened to sue the Federal Government following his involvement in a road accident. The human rights lawyer had broken his leg after falling into a manhole while walking to hisoffice in Abuja.He promised that he would not leave the matter to God like the ordinary Nigerian would, but will sue the government on Wednesday. Falana who made this known while delivering his speech at the National Stakeholders Summit on Whistleblowing in Abuja on Tuesday said, “I am sure you saw me limping and using a walking stick when I was coming in.  It is because I fell into a manhole while walking to my office on Shehu Shagari Way.“I broke my leg and I am even wearing Plaster of Paris and I was even hospitalised.
