Kano Hisbah Board To Destroy One Million Beer Bottles

The Kano State Hisbah Board, on Saturday, confirmed that it would destroy over one million bottles of beer it confiscated from traders within the Kano metropolis.

The KSHB’s Assistant Commander on Special Duties, Mr. Nahabani Usman, who made the disclosure, said the action was in compliance with the penal code of the Board, which prohibits drugs or any intoxicating substance.

Also, Nahabani urged the state government to incorporate its newly-proposed Drug Control Agency into the activities of the Board and constitute a special court to address the cases of illegal drug-related offences in the state.


The assistant commander urged professors and other wealthy individuals, who had only one wife but intended to marry more, to pick the forms from the Board or from his office.

According to him, the move is to make them participate in the forthcoming mass wedding of widows and divorcees being sponsored by the state government.

“I am appealing to professors or wealthy individuals, who are interested in having more wives to come forward and collect the forms for registration to participate in the mass wedding,” he stated.

Reginald Mengi, one of Tanzania’s wealthiest and most storied businessmen, has died at the age of 75, leaving behind $560 million for his 39-year-old wife, Jacqueline, former Miss Tanzania. Tanzanian media and executives at his family office confirmed on Thursday morning that Mengi passed on in the early hours in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. South Africa’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Monroe, has denied reports of Xenophobic attacks in his country. India and Nigeria Set To Sign Bilateral Air Services Agreement

India and Nigeria are set to sign Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) before the end of January that would enable direct flights between the two countries, the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Abhay Thakur has said. Thakur said this to newsmen at an event to commemorate the World Hindi Day and Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Abuja on Wednesday night.
