UK Based Nigerian Lawmaker To Be Sentenced With Brother, After Lying To Police

A UK based Nigerian Lawmaker, Fiona Onasanya, will now be sentenced with her brother after she was found guilty of lying to the police.

The UK based Nigerian Lawmaker who is a former Labour whip, was found guilty of perverting the course of justice following an Old Bailey retrial for lying to police to avoid a speeding charge. The MP who was elected in June 2017 but stood down as a Labour whip last month, was accused of colluding with her brother Festus after her car was clocked going 41mph in a 30mph zone in the village of Thorney near Peterborough, England.

The 35-year-old solicitor who was found guilty of one count of perverting the course of justice three times to avoid speeding points following a retrial at the Old Bailey, will be sentenced with her brother on a date yet to be determined.

A Labour Party spokeswoman who confirmed that the UK based Nigerian Lawmaker will be sentenced with her brother, said:

“The Labour Party is deeply disappointed in Fiona Onasanya’s behaviour. It falls well below what is expected of politicians. She should now resign.

“Fiona Onasanya is being administratively suspended from the Labour Party and therefore the whip with immediate effect.”

The General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, Dr Daniel Olukoya, has filed a N10 billion libel suit against the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, Sahara Reporters Incorporated and the Incorporated Trustees of Sahara Media Foundation, demanding N10bn in damages for their failure to desist from publishing false and malicious articles against him and his church, MFM, since 2013. US chip-maker Qualcomm claims it has won an injunction against Apple that effectively bans the import and sale of a number of iPhone models, ranging from the iPhone 6S to the iPhone X. The preliminary order, issued by a Chinese court, is the latest in step a continuing feud between the two tech giants over intellectual property. However, Apple says all of its iPhone models remain on sale in the country. The disputed patents relate to software rather than hardware. State College cops who killed Osaze Osagie, a Nigerian student in the United States, have been cleared of all charges. The police officers had implemented the use of force while serving a mental health warrant that resulted in the death of Osaze Osagie on March 20. According to a the Centre County District Attorney Bernie Cantorna, the officers were in a “life-and-death situation” when they shot Osagie who was approaching them with a 5.16-inch steak knife, Onwardstate reports. Osagie died of multiple gunshot wounds after the confrontation at his apartment on Old Boalsburg Road.
