Interpol issues arrest warrant for Diezani Allison-Madueke in UK

The International Police have issued an arrest warrant for former Nigerian Petroleum Minister, Diezani Allison-Madueke following a request by the Federal Government to the agency.

According to reports, the necessary charges had been filed and attached to the extradition request by the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and by this request, all Interpol member countries were obliged to arrest the former minister anywhere she is seen on their territories.  

Madueke has been in London, United Kingdom for over three years. Attached to the extradition request was the November 4, 2018 order for her arrest by Justice Valentine Ashi of the FCT High Court.  

The court had directed the Inspector-General of Police; the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Director-General of the State Security Service and all heads of other agencies to apprehend the ex-petroleum minister.

The judge further directed that the order which was signed by the court registrar, E. Balami, should be attached to a warrant for execution on Madueke.

Reginald Mengi, one of Tanzania’s wealthiest and most storied businessmen, has died at the age of 75, leaving behind $560 million for his 39-year-old wife, Jacqueline, former Miss Tanzania. Tanzanian media and executives at his family office confirmed on Thursday morning that Mengi passed on in the early hours in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. US appears to back Zimbabwe coup as top official says it wants a "new era"

South Africa’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Monroe, has denied reports of Xenophobic attacks in his country. India and Nigeria Set To Sign Bilateral Air Services Agreement

India and Nigeria are set to sign Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) before the end of January that would enable direct flights between the two countries, the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Abhay Thakur has said.
