Interpol issues arrest warrant for Diezani Allison-Madueke in UK

The International Police have issued an arrest warrant for former Nigerian Petroleum Minister, Diezani Allison-Madueke following a request by the Federal Government to the agency.

According to reports, the necessary charges had been filed and attached to the extradition request by the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and by this request, all Interpol member countries were obliged to arrest the former minister anywhere she is seen on their territories.  

Madueke has been in London, United Kingdom for over three years. Attached to the extradition request was the November 4, 2018 order for her arrest by Justice Valentine Ashi of the FCT High Court.  

The court had directed the Inspector-General of Police; the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Director-General of the State Security Service and all heads of other agencies to apprehend the ex-petroleum minister.

The judge further directed that the order which was signed by the court registrar, E. Balami, should be attached to a warrant for execution on Madueke.

FG Makes N909 Billion From VAT in 2017

Between October 2016 and September 2017, the federation account received a total inflow of N908.9bn in Value Added Tax receipts from the Federal Inland Revenue Service, figures obtained from the National Bureau of Statisticshave revealed.An analysis of the VAT report obtained from the NBS showed that the amount was collected from 28 sectoral activities during the period under review. A breakdown of the amount showed that the sum of N207.35bn was generated in the fourth quarter of 2016, while the first, second and third quarters of 2017 had N204.77bn, N246.3bn and N250.56bn, respectively. In the report signed by the Statistician General of the Federation and Chief Executive, NBS, Dr. Yemi Kale, the bureau said the manufacturing sector with N115.76bn generated the highest amount of VAT revenue.
