Oprah Winfrey donates $5 million to the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta

Billionaire media mogul, Oprah Winfrey on Friday night donated $5 million to the Ron Clark Academy, a private school for gifted black students in Atlanta.

Winfrey attended the school’s 10th anniversary as a special guest and shocked the audience by announcing she'll be donating $5 million to the school.

“The reason why I am here, I’m giving up my time for free to be here – to support them – is to say, ‘Bravo, keep doing it’,” she said. “Because there is not a better school, organization, institution in the USA.”


According to reports, the money will go to building a performing arts academy, so far the school has raised over $7 million for the project.

Trump's twitter deactivation causes security concern

The fact that U.S. President Donald Trump’s Twitter account was deactivated for about 11 minutes on Thursday by a contract staff who was leaving the company, has caused a cause for concern and raised questions about how much access and control Twitter Inc.’s workforce has over an individual user’s account. Though Twitter has controls to prevent employees from making tweets from user accounts, the incident suggests that the employee still had some access to accounts and the ability to make changes without much oversight or the need for approval. ‘Gift’ to Obasanjo: Atiku’s son-in-law charged afresh with money laundering

Abdullahi Babalele, son-in-law of Atiku Abubakar was docked today on a new charge of laundering $140,000. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission who brought him before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, did not state the recipient of the money, but it fits the N50million gift sent by Atiku to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, days before the election. Babalele faces a two-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of $140,000.00. He allegedly persuaded one Bashir Mohammed, a Bureau De Change( BDC) operator, to make a cash payment of the sum of $140,000 without going through any financial institution, an offence contrary to Section 18(c) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 as amended and punishable under Section 16(2)(b) of the same Act.
