BUK Expels 22 Students For Examination Mal-practice

The University Senate has expelled twenty two (22) Postgraduate and Undergraduate students for examination misconduct, according to a statement signed by the University Examination Officer, Dr. Yusuf M. Mohammed for Registrar, Fatima Binta Mohammed.

The Senate at its 356th meeting held on Wednesday, 25th October, 2017 upon consideration of a Submission from Senate Committee on Examinations Misconduct and Leakages, approved as follows:-a) The following candidates were expelled for being involved in examination misconduct in accordance with category 4.2(Ai – Xi) and 19:17(Ai – Xi) of the General Regulations Governing Postgraduate Studies (GRGPS) and General Examinations and Academic Regulations (GEAR):

Victims of domestic violence to enjoy paid leave in New Zealand

Victims of domestic violence in New Zealand will now be allowed to take up to 10 days paid leave from work to try to escape the abuse. This is part of a scheme to address the nation’s "shocking" levels of family violence.  Introducing the scheme, which is the first in the developed world, Greens MP Jan Logie, a member of the ruling Labour-led coalition, said the leave would help victims to move homes or settle children into new schools. She said it would also help to protect victims from abusers, who often stalked them at work or tried to sabotage their careers. "This is a win for victims, a win for employers, and a win for society," she said.  "This law is a world first and it will make a significant difference for people trying to escape domestic violence." Owners of the mansions seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been unveiled. They are former governors, ex-ministers, top military officers and businessmen. Leading the pack is a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, who has forfeited some prized assets. Lost to the Federal Government by the ex-Minister are a multi-storey building in Banana Island Foreshore Estate in Ikoyi, Lagos; a real estate comprising six flats in Ikoyi and an estate of 21 mixed housing in Yaba, Lagos. Many properties allegedly linked with Diezani have also been placed under interim forfeiture by the anti-graft commission. Also, the EFCC has secured the final seizure of Flat 7B at Osborne Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos where $43.45 million cash was recovered. The embattled former National Security Adviser, Col. A Nigerian lady reportedly lost a job after being photoshopped on a naked body in a tweet which went viral.  The photos was attached to a tweet describing how Marlians will be turning up for Naira Marley's concert which was held last night.  Commenting on the aftermath of the viral photo, Media personality Kimani disclosed that the lady lost the gig because she was blacklisted by the company that wanted to hire her.  She tweeted;  This is rather unfair, knowing this was Photoshopped. Sent this lady's handle to a client yesterday morning only to receive an email just now saying she's been blacklisted. Just coming here now to see this must have been the reason she lost the gig. Kimani also served an update on the action she took. She revealed that she sent in the real photo as an evidence to overturn the blacklisting.

Nigerian Fraudsters Jailed Over £610k Fraud In The U.K

A gang of Nigerian fraudsters who stole £610,000 from business bank accounts have been sentenced. Inner London Crown Court heard how Victor Oke, 39, used stolen data provided by Desmond Uyiosa Abifade, 25, to falsely impersonate company directors via telephone banking. Once Oke gained access, he diverted funds to ‘mule’ beneficiary accounts monitored by Moses Kuye, 28. Melinda Mensah-Oke, 37, impersonated company directors when a female voice was necessary, while Arinola Kuye, 27, acted as the group’s money launderer.All five were charged with conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation, which they pleaded not guilty to. On Wednesday, Oke was sentenced to four years in prison, while Moses Kuye was jailed for three years and three months.Mensah-Oke received a fourteen month suspended sentence and Abifade a two year suspended sentence. Arinola Kuye was given a12 month community order and instructed to complete 50 hours of unpaid work.
