Nigeria To Get First Gold Refinery In Ogun

Nigeria stands at the threshold of history, as is set to have Ist gold refinery in the country.

The refinery will be located in Mowe, Ogun State.

According to a statement by Kian Smith, the refinery is coming to add value to the economy, gold miners and traders and will also increase revenue to the government especially at a time oil prices have become volatile, leaving the economy in dire need of improved revenues from other sources.

Bawa Bwari, minister of mines and steel development would be joined by the Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and other functionaries from the public and private sectors for the ground breaking ceremony of the Kian Smith Gold Refinery on Thursday, December 13, the statement says.

The indigenous adds that its vision is to contribute to the development of the Nigerian gold market as well as help in creating jobs in the economy.

Udo Udoma, minister of budget and national planning, had recently announced in Abuja that the Federal Government has issued first gold refinery license in the country to Kian Smith, which would soon go into operation.

Woman commits suicide by throwing herself before a train with her 3-year-old daughter in her arms after being abused by husband (video)

A 24-year-old woman, who was allegedly harassed by her husband, ended her life by throwing herself before a local train at Bhayandar railway station, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, with her three-year-old daughter clutched in her arms. The woman identified as Renuka Pintu came to Bhayandar railway station in the intervening night of August 2 and August 3 and stood at the Churchgate-end of platform number four with her daughter, Arohi, in her arms, the police said. FG Makes N909 Billion From VAT in 2017

Between October 2016 and September 2017, the federation account received a total inflow of N908.9bn in Value Added Tax receipts from the Federal Inland Revenue Service, figures obtained from the National Bureau of Statisticshave revealed.An analysis of the VAT report obtained from the NBS showed that the amount was collected from 28 sectoral activities during the period under review. A breakdown of the amount showed that the sum of N207.35bn was generated in the fourth quarter of 2016, while the first, second and third quarters of 2017 had N204.77bn, N246.3bn and N250.56bn, respectively. In the report signed by the Statistician General of the Federation and Chief Executive, NBS, Dr. Yemi Kale, the bureau said the manufacturing sector with N115.76bn generated the highest amount of VAT revenue. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking assistance in finding six Nigerians who the United States indicted for fraud.
