'In Addis at the launch of the new Africa Business Coalition for Health championed through a partnership of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa [UNECA] and the Aliko Dangote Foundation under the chairmanship of Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.

The ECA has estimated a $66 billion per annum financing gap for healthcare in Africa. The public sector alone cannot cover this. There is a need for smart partnerships with the private sector and for their investments in pharmaceuticals, logistics, supply chain management, capacity support, technology, innovation, and other areas. The Africa Business coalition encourages the private sector to invest, to partner and be a more effective part of the solution to the continent’s health challenges.

Agents with U.S. Customs and the Drug Enforcement Administration have seized $18 million dollars’ worth of cocaine disguised as banana heading to a prison in Texas.   According to reports, the Wayne Scott Unit Prison Farm outside of Freeport, Texas, received a couple pallets of bananas as a donation. I was pondering this morning about murder , you know , with all the disturbing front page articles on murder and the gruesome pictures shown. I started thinking , how can people be so heartless and lacking in empathy to the extent of not just killing a fellow being but doing so in a manner that is savagely barbaric. These murderers must have mental health issues, anger problems or just plain evil built into their DNA. Following this thinking, I began to wonder, but what about abortion, is it murder and if yes, is there a difference between a murderer who kills a grown man or woman, and someone who aborts a fetus. Militants linked to the Islamic State (IS) group have hoisted their flag in a Nigerian town after seizing control of it, three residents have told the BBC. Hundreds of people have fled the fishing town of Baga after the militants overran it on Wednesday night, the residents said. The militants seized weapons from a military base, and torched a naval base on the shores of Lake Chad, they said. The military denied Baga had fallen, saying the attack had been repelled. But PRNigeria, an agency well-connected with the military, quoted an intelligence officer as saying that troops had made a "tactical withdrawal" from their base after coming under attack. Tyrannosaurus rex, the king of the dinosaurs, has gained a new family member. The fragments of a fossilized skull belonging to a previously unknown species of tyrannosaur were found in southern Alberta, Canada.
