INEC's Official Statement On Postponement Of 2019 Elections (Transcript)

PoliticsNGR has been furnished with a transcript of the full statement by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on the postponement of the 2019 General Elections. Read Below;

"The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) met on Friday, 15th of February 2019 and reviewed its preparations for the 2019 General Elections scheduled for Saturday, 16" February 2019 and Saturday, 2nd March 2019.

Following a careful review of the implementation of its logistics and operational plan and the determination to conduct free, fair and credible elections, the Commission came to the conclusion that proceeding with the elections as scheduled is no longer feasible.

Consequently, the Commission has decided to reschedule the Presidential and National Assembly Elections to Saturday, 23% February 2019.

Furthermore, the Governorship, State House of Assembly and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Elections is rescheduled to Saturday 9" March 2019. This will afford the Commission the opportunity to address identified challenges in order to maintain the quality of our elections.

This was a difficult decision for the Commission to take, but necessary for the successful delivery of the elections and the consolidation of our democracy.

The Commission will meet key stakeholders to update them on this development at 2 p.m. on Saturday, 16" February 2019 at the Abuja International Conference Centre."

Kim Jong-un's armoured limousine was flanked by a circle of jogging bodyguards as it made its way to North Korea's embassy in Vietnam today. The North Korean leader is in the capital Hanoi ahead of his second summit with President Donald Trump, who arrived aboard Air Force One a short time later. Thug With Charm Caught With Thumb Printed Ballot Papers In Anambra

In Anambra State a political thug with charms was caught with thumb printed ballot papers. According to reports, the political thug was apprehended with thumb printed ballots papers boxes at Ward 6 in Okpoko, Ogbaru local government area of Anambra state. Eyewitness says, that after being nabbed and stripped off his shirt, charms were found on the thug. The suspect was later handed over to the security men for further investigation.

Buhari Leads Atiku With Nearly 500,000 Votes For 20 Lgas In Kastina

Incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari has consolidated his lead over Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party in his native Katsina State with at least half a million votes, results declared so far show. As of Monday morning, presidential election results from 20 out of the 34 local government areas in the state have been collated and Mr Buhari has so far garnered 640,254 votes against Mr Abubakar’s 160,265. Results from 12 local governments released earlier showed that Mr Buhari was in clear lead and an additional results from eight local governments released Monday has Mr Buhari winning in all of them. In Maiaduwa local government, Mr Buhari got 35,198 votes and Mr Abubakar got 8,256. In Bindawa, Mr Buhari scored 35,030 votes against Mr Abubakar’s 9,623, while Mr Buhari got 25,699 votes against Mr Abubakar’s 6,647 votes in Dandume. The Spanish stopper apologised to fans for his actions which left Blues boss Maurizio Sarri furious at Wembley. And the 24-year-old keeper was fined £190,000 by the club, which was donated to the Chelsea Foundation.
