A Nigerian couple has dropped the jaws of many after they gave out two brand new Toyota camry cars as souvenirs at their colourful wedding in Benin, Edo state. It was quite a glamorous occasion as Lagos-based Interior designer, Ehi Ogbebor, tied the knot in style with her wealthy partner on Saturday, November 18, in Benin city, Edo state.

Ehi, a mother of two and the CEO of Sayaveth Interiors and Hotel, became an online sensation after she shared news of her engagement 10 years after divorce. According to sources, the businesswoman’s new husband, chief Kenneth Bramor is into oil and gas. Their wedding was graced by top notch people including senator Dino Melaye, family, friends and colleagues.

Agents with U.S. Customs and the Drug Enforcement Administration have seized $18 million dollars’ worth of cocaine disguised as banana heading to a prison in Texas.   According to reports, the Wayne Scott Unit Prison Farm outside of Freeport, Texas, received a couple pallets of bananas as a donation. When two sergeants went to pick up the pallets, they found the drugs.   “One of the sergeants noticed one of the boxes didn’t seem quite right, looked a little further, removed that box off the pallets, looked inside and saw something extraordinarily suspicious,” Jeremy Desel with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice told KTRK.   Hidden under bundles of bananas were 540 kilos of cocaine. USCB and DEA agents reported to the scene and seized the drugs. DEA agent Wendell Campbell said it’s just the latest attempt to smuggle drugs in strange ways. The Libyan Navy has rescued 199 illegal immigrants, including women and children, while attempting to reach Europe by sea. "A Libyan Coast Guard patrol rescued 179 men, 16 women and 4 children on board rubber boats in the middle of the sea," the Information Office of the Libyan Navy explained. The office added that the immigrants were of different African nationalities, including Nigeria. Four of them were from Egypt. The migrants were handed over to the immigration HQ of the Immigration Control Agency after providing them with humanitarian and medical assistance, according to the Information Office of the Libyan Navy.

An American woman in Zimbabwe has been jailed for 'insulting' President Robert Mugabe by allegedly tweeting an image of him which suggested he has a catheter from an anonymous account which was still active as she languished behind bars on Saturday. Martha O'Donovan, 25, was arrested on Friday morning at her home near Harare, the country'scapital, and was taken into custody on a charge of insulting or undermining the president and trying to overthrow an elected government.Police say that on October 11, O'Donovan tweeted that Mugabe, 93, is a 'very selfish and sick man' and claimed that he was surviving on a catheter. Mullah Nangyalay was killed but local officials say the attack also hit dozens of innocent bystanders. More than 60 civilians were killed or wounded in a US drone attack targeting a top Taliban splinter-group commander in the western Afghanistan province of Herat, local officials said. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking assistance in finding six Nigerians who the United States indicted for fraud. The bureau took to its Twitter handle to solicit help in finding the six men who are wanted for “their involvement in ​business​ email ​compromise (BEC) schemes resulting in over $6 ​million in losses”. “Help the #FBI find ​six Nigerian nationals wanted for their involvement in ​business​ email ​compromise (BEC) schemes resulting in over $6 ​million in losses,” it wrote. Yobe State police commissioner says Boko Haram has killed at least 235 officers in the state

The Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, Abdulmaliki Sumonu has said that no fewer than 235 officers of the command had been lost to the Boko Haram insurgency in the last six years. He made the revelation at the investiture of an award on him by a non-governmental organisation, Actors Security Watch Organisation. Sumonu said the award was in recognition of services rendered by living officers and officers who died in defence of the nation. “This award is not just for the commissioner of police, but the entire police command for serving the nation diligently,” he said. The commissioner said that the award would serve as a tonic to the police to put in their best in the service of the country. He said that the command derived its inspiration from the higher police authorities. “This leadership gives every policeman a sense of belonging and fulfillment,” he said.

Italy arrests Libyan, Egyptian over death of 26 Nigerian women Two men, one of them an Egyptian and the other a Libyan, have been arrested and charged in Italy as investigators look into the deaths of 26 Nigerian women and girls, who are suspected to have been murdered while attempting to cross the Mediterranean. The bodies of the women were brought to the southern Italian port of Salerno by the Spanish ship Cantabria on Sunday, and prosecutors opened an investigation over suspicions that the women, some as young as 14, may have been abused and killed. The organisers of the planned academic conference on witchcraft planned for Nsukka next week are looking for another venue after the University of Nigeria withdrew the approval for the use of its Energy Centre. The director of the centre wrote conference organisers withdrawing the approval, amidst the opposition by Christian students and the Christian Association of Nigeria against the conference. The conference, initially scheduled for 28-31 October is the brainchild of the B.I.C Ijomah Centre for Policy and Research and is expected to hold between November 26 and November 27.
