Kidnapped British, Ian Squire Shot Dead In Nigeria After Singing “Amazing Grace"

A British optician kidnapped in Nigeria was shot dead after trying to cheer his fellow hostages by playing "Amazing Grace" on his acoustic guitar, two of his fellow missionaries have told The Telegraph.

Ian Squire, 57, was killed instantly after being hit by a salvo of shots fired by one of the gunmen that abducted the four-strong missionary team from their clinic in the southern Delta region on October 13.

Details of how Mr Squire died had previously not been made public, and it had earlier been reported that he had died of an asthma attack after being unable to access medication. However, an interview with the Telegraph, his fellow hostages David and Shirley Donovan say that he was killed the morning after they were abducted by the gang, who hid them in a bamboo hut in a remote swamp.

The couple said that the gunmen refused to ever explain why they opened fire.“It was the perfect song, and at that point things began to look not quite as bad,” he said. “But then, after Ian finished playing, he stood up, and a salvo of gunshots killed him instantly. We didn’t see who did it, but it was obvious that someone in the gang had shot him.

It was terrifying to see.“We jumped out of the shack and into the water as we thought they were coming for usnext, but a member of the gang came and put us back in there with Ian for the rest of the day.”

Abdullahi Babalele, son-in-law of Atiku Abubakar was docked today on a new charge of laundering $140,000. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission who brought him before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, did not state the recipient of the money, but it fits the N50million gift sent by Atiku to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, days before the election. Babalele faces a two-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of $140,000.00. He allegedly persuaded one Bashir Mohammed, a Bureau De Change( BDC) operator, to make a cash payment of the sum of $140,000 without going through any financial institution, an offence contrary to Section 18(c) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 as amended and punishable under Section 16(2)(b) of the same Act. Zimbabweans Drown While ‘Having Sex In River’ On New Year, Family Blames Mermaid

Two lovers reportedly drowned while ‘having sex in a river’ to celebrate the new year, and their family have blamed it all on a mermaid. The two lovers identified as Charmaine Nyakata (21) and 17-year-old Munashe Nedziva, were allegedly having sex in Mayambura River near Prince Charles Dam in Seke, Zimbabwe, when the incident occurred. Lady Caught Stealing After Drugging Man Who Took Her Home From Club (Photos)

Men have been warned to be careful of the ladies they take home from nightclubs or bars following an incident which has gone viral on social media. According to reports, a lady in a bid to rob a man who took her to his home, allegedly drugged him after a drinking spree.
