A brain surgery has been successfully carried out at Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital in Kano.

The operation which is said to be the first of its kind - was conducted by a team of doctors at the hospital which was established early last year by governor Umar Ganduje's administration. 

In March 2018, governor Ganduje signed the state Ultra-Modern Specialist Hospitals Bill into Law.   

The law is specifically meant to propel activities of two clinics, Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, Giginyu and Pediatric Hospital along Zoo Road in the metropolis. 

Signing the bill at the state executive council meeting, he assured that the operations and management of the hospitals would not be business as usual.

He said government would not allow industrial action in the two facilities insisting: “It will not go the way civil servants operate in other health facilities.

Nicki Minaj sued by former stylist, Maher Jridi for $73,000

American rapper, Nicki Minaj has been dragged to court by a stylist who claimed she wore his clothes and didn’t return them. According to Page Six, stylist  Maher Jridi is suing the incredibly rich rapper for failing to return expensive wardrobe items she had borrowed last year. The stylist further added that he rented the pieces for thousands of dollars from a company called Cloak Wardrobe. Nicki allegedly wore the clothes and didn’t bother to give them back once she was done. This same stylist happened to be the mind behind her Paris Fashion Week looks last year, and claims he is on the hook for $13,000 to replace the gear. He claimed to have made several attempts to resolve the issue out of court, but claims Nicki has ignored him. Jridi also alleges that the rapper has not fully paid him for his services. And it is why he is now seeking a total of $73,000.

FIFA bans three former presidents for life as part of crackdown on corruption

The ethics committee of World football governing body, (FIFA) has placed a lifetime ban on former presidents of the Guam, Nicaraguan and Venezuelan football associations for corruption. Ex-Guam FA boss Richard Lai, a former Asian Football Confederation(AFC) official, and FIFA committee member, pleaded guilty to fraud in the United States after an investigation into his case was opened in April. Lai was banned from all football-related activities alongside, a formerVenezuelan FA chief Rafael Esquiveland ex-Nicaraguan FA president Julio Rocha who both also pleaded guilty in the United States to separate federal charges ranging from wire fraud to racketeering and money laundering. Meanwhile, three more ex-South American football bosses, Peru's Manuel Burga, Brazilian Jose Maria Marin and Juan Angel Napout of Paraguay are also on trial in New York. They have also pleaded not guilty to charges of fraud, money-laundering, and racketeering.

11 people arrested as NDLEA destroys two hectares of cannabis farms in Edo State

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Edo Command says it has uncovered and destroyed two hectares of cannabis farms in the state. Buba Wakawa, State Commander of the Agency disclosed that the farms located in Ovia North East and Etsako West Local Government areas were estimated to yield 248,088kg of cannabis plants.   He also said that the command had seized 452.36kg of substance suspected to be cannabis as well as Tramadol and Diazepam tablets. According to him, the achievements were recorded in the last one month. He further said that no fewer than 11 suspected drug traffickers comprising five males and six females apprehended within the period would be charged to court. He said that the suspects in their various statements have owned up to the crime of drug trafficking to make money.
