APC reacts to party members defection in National Assembly, says ''we still control 25 out of the 36 states''

Here is an official statement from APC reacting to the defection of 15 Senators and 36 house of representatives members from the party today. Read below
The All Progressives Congress (APC) notes the development in the National Assembly with the defection of some of our members from the Party.
In the last couple of weeks our Party leaders have worked to stave off this situation as responsible Party leaders would do. It would appear however that the individuals involved have different considerations beyond the grievances that they were willing to discuss and which our leaders were willing to address.
As a truly democratic party, we respect the right of every citizen to political association. Therefore, we urge our members to remain calm as we continue to work hard to position our party strongly for the next general elections.  APC remains in firm control of 25 states of the 36 states of the federation and maintains a clear majority in the federal House of Representatives and state assemblies.
We assure members and supporters that our great Party will continue to consolidate on our majority status in the leadup to the 2019 General Elections, even as our government continue to work hard to deliver on our promises to Nigerians.

Senator Biodun Olujimi Orders Slapping Of National Assembly Staff Over Lift

Some workers at the national assembly created a scene on Monday, after Biodun Olujimi, senator representing Ekiti south, allegedly asked her aide to assault a member of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN). The lawmaker was reportedly irked by the decision of the PASAN member to ride in an elevator with her. The senator was on her way to the public hearing of the senate committee on petroleum downstream, investigating the N5 trillion subsidy payment to the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC). Olujimi allegedly ordered her aide to slap the official. The national assembly staff immediately told members of PASAN who were holding a congress on the second floor of the new wing of the senate. SERAP reports FG and ASUU to the United Nations over the continued closure of Nigerian Universities

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project(SERAP) has sent an urgent appeal to two UN special rapporteurs urging them to “prevail upon the government of President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to reach an agreement to end the ongoing strike action by ASUU. Zimbabwean Woman Kills Her Husband With An Axe Over Christmas Gift (Photos)

A woman is currently at large after hacking her husband to death with an axe during dispute over Christmas gift. Homicide detectives in Mutare are looking for the woman from Chikanga in Mutare, Zimbabwe, who disappeared soon after axing her husband to death following a domestic dispute on December 24. Anesu Mafokosho is alleged to have axed Vitalis Mudhumo, 26, at around 3pm soon after the couple returned home from the city centre where they had gone shopping. The dispute which ended in the death of the husband was sparked by gifts which the couple had bought for their child for Christmas. Cristiano Ronaldo  has emerged on the top spot of   Instagram Sport Rich List  for 2018 ahead of rivals   Lionel Messi   and  Neymar. According to HopperHQ.com, an Instagram scheduling tool, that analyses data to reveal a list of the highest paid celebrities and influencers on the social media platform, brands will have to pay Cristiano Ronaldo $750,000 per post on his Instagram page. Neymar, Lionel Messi and  David Beckham  and  Gareth Bale  also made it to top of the sporting list. Posts on Neymar and Messi's accounts would be worth $600,000 and $500,000 respectively. David Beckham could charge $300,000 while a sponsored post on Gareth Bale's profile would be a costly $185,000, according to the report.
