IMF boss, Christine Lagarde escapes death after her plane made an emergency landing in Argentina

The Managing Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde narrowly escaped death after an American Airlines plane she boarded from Argentina to the U.S., made an emergency landing in the Argentine airport on Sunday due to malfunction.

Local newspapers Clarin and La Nacion and local television station TN reported the flight, which was destined for the United States, experienced a drop in cabin pressure about 200 km (124 miles) north of the Argentine capital and returned to Ezeiza to land.  

Lagarde had been in Argentina over the weekend for the G-20 meeting of finance ministers and central bank presidents.

An airbase housing US and coalition troops in Iraq has been hit by rockets, according to US security sources. The Al-Asad base was reportedly hit by multiple rockets. It is unclear if there have been any casualties. It come after top Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani was killed in a drone strike in Baghdad on Friday, on the orders of US President Donald Trump. A Nigerian lady reportedly lost a job after being photoshopped on a naked body in a tweet which went viral.  The photos was attached to a tweet describing how Marlians will be turning up for Naira Marley's concert which was held last night.  Commenting on the aftermath of the viral photo, Media personality Kimani disclosed that the lady lost the gig because she was blacklisted by the company that wanted to hire her.  She tweeted;  This is rather unfair, knowing this was Photoshopped. Sent this lady's handle to a client yesterday morning only to receive an email just now saying she's been blacklisted. Just coming here now to see this must have been the reason she lost the gig. Kimani also served an update on the action she took. She revealed that she sent in the real photo as an evidence to overturn the blacklisting.

On Friday, the US Senate and House of Representatives voted unanimously to end the 35-day partial federal government shutdown with legislation to temporarily fund many agencies, but without the $5.7bn President Donald Trump had demanded this year to help build a wall on the US-Mexico border.   Later on Friday, President Trump signed the bill, which will provide funding through February 15 and end the longest government shutdown in US history. Earlier in the day, Trump announced that a deal had been reached.   "I am very proud to announce today that we have reached a deal to end the shutdown and reopen the federal government, In a short while, I will sign a bill to open our government for three weeks until February 15. 30 dead, 42 injured after suicide bombers attack viewing center in Borno 30 persons have been confirmed dead while 42 others have been seriously injured in a multiple bomb blasts that rocked a Borno village on Sunday night. A statement signed by the Director of Search and Rescue Operation, Borno State Emergency Management Agency, Usman Kachalla, says the bomb blast incident occurred at Mandarari village in Konduga local government area of the state at exactly 8:50pm on Sunday. Three suicide bombers detonated Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, at a viewing centre which killed no fewer than 17 people, including a mobile policeman.
