Kano APC Crisis: Buhari Summons Ganduje, Kwankwaso To Aso-rock

Ahead of the controversial visit to Kano by Sen. Rabi’u Kwankwaso on Tuesday, the Presidency on Monday summoned Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje and the Senator to avert breakdown of law and order in Kano State. The governor, accompanied by two serving senators and two members of the House of Representatives from the state, met with the Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari at the Presidential Villa.

Ganduje, however, declined to speak to State House correspondents after the closed door meeting. PoliticsNGR gathered that Sen. Kwankwaso is also expected to meet with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the presidential villa, today, over the matter. It will be recalled that Kano State Police Command had advised Kwankwaso against embarking on the visit, due to the tension it had generated which may lead to breakdown of lawand order.The State Police Commissioner, Rabiu Yusuf, had on Jan. 27, advised Kwankwaso to shelve the visit as security report had indicated that the controversial visit might lead to political unrest.

Yusuf also warned that the law would be allowed to take its full course in the event that the controversial visit resulted into violent clash in the state. However, Kwankwaso, who spoke through his spokesperson, Binta Sipikin, vowed to go ahead with the visit in spite of the police advice She said: “we are coming to visit friends, families and other relatives that for a long time,we have not seen. We have coordinated this visit with seven camera drones and other apparatus that would make it a hitch free homecoming.’’

An American woman in Zimbabwe has been jailed for 'insulting' President Robert Mugabe by allegedly tweeting an image of him which suggested he has a catheter from an anonymous account which was still active as she languished behind bars on Saturday. Martha O'Donovan, 25, was arrested on Friday morning at her home near Harare, the country'scapital, and was taken into custody on a charge of insulting or undermining the president and trying to overthrow an elected government.Police say that on October 11, O'Donovan tweeted that Mugabe, 93, is a 'very selfish and sick man' and claimed that he was surviving on a catheter. Senator Biodun Olujimi Orders Slapping Of National Assembly Staff Over Lift

Some workers at the national assembly created a scene on Monday, after Biodun Olujimi, senator representing Ekiti south, allegedly asked her aide to assault a member of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN). The lawmaker was reportedly irked by the decision of the PASAN member to ride in an elevator with her. The senator was on her way to the public hearing of the senate committee on petroleum downstream, investigating the N5 trillion subsidy payment to the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC). N1.3bn fraud: Obanikoro to testify against Fayose in court

According to this tweet by Ayo Fayose, former Minister of State for Defense, Musiliu Obanikoro, will be one of the witnesses the EFCC will be presenting when he is charged to court. Fayose was invited by the anti-graft agency over allegations that he gave N1.3 billion to Obanikoro to rig the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti state. The money was allegedly released from the office of former National Security Officer, Namadi Sambo, and is part of the $2.1 billion arms procurement fund allegedly wasted by the former administration.
