Photos: 10 killed as gas station explodes in Lagos

10 persons have been confirmed dead in an explosion that occured at the Second Coming Gas station in Magodo,Lagos state this morning January 11th. The gas plant is located on CMD Road, oppositeMagodo Brooks Estate.

Operatives of the Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) are currently at the scene to contain the fire and carry out rescue operation. The cause of the explosion is yet unknown. .

Former WBA world super-middleweight champion,  George Groves  has announced his retirement from boxing four months after losing his WBA belt to fellow Briton Callum Smith. 30-year old Groves, who became world champion at the fourth attempt when he beat Russia’s  Fedor Chudinov  in Sheffield in 2017, said he wanted to go out at the top.   “I don’t want there to be a time where I’m ‘too old’ to box on, or where an injury retires me in or out of the ring,” he said in a statement on his Instagram account. A Nigerian man named David Ukesone who boarded a flight for the first time in his life, has been hospitalized after being tied with sit belt on a flight from Nigeria to Chicago on the 23rd of January, 2018. WgnTV Reports that Ukesone had never been on a plane before, and it was his first time flying, according to his family. His children said there was no issue on his flight from Nigeria to Dubai. But from Dubai to Chicago, there was a misunderstanding that led to their father being restrained for more than eight-hours ultimately sending him to the hospital.
