Canada Government sends message to Igbos living in the country

The Canadian government has sent a powerful message to the members of the Igbo community in the country.

Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Honourable Ralph Goodale, wrote to the Cultural Association of Saskatchewan (ICAS) as they prepare to celebrate their Nigerian-Canadian heritage on August 3.

Writing on behalf of Prime Minister Trudeau and the Government of Canada, Minister Goodale expressed pleasure to extend greetings to everyone who will be attending Igbo Day.

Sabratha vessel of Tripoli Coast Guard managed to rescue 40 illegal immigrants including Nigerians,  from the Mediterranean while on their way to Europe. Members of the Indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB) group are currently marching across major roads in Onitsha, the commercialcity of Anambra State ahead of the November 18, gubernatorial election in the state. This development is arising when preparations for the Anambra polls are in high gear. The election is expected to hold on November 18th. U.S. Journalist Jailed In Zimbabwe For Insulting Mugabe On Twitter

An American woman in Zimbabwe has been jailed for 'insulting' President Robert Mugabe by allegedly tweeting an image of him which suggested he has a catheter from an anonymous account which was still active as she languished behind bars on Saturday. Martha O'Donovan, 25, was arrested on Friday morning at her home near Harare, the country'scapital, and was taken into custody on a charge of insulting or undermining the president and trying to overthrow an elected government.Police say that on October 11, O'Donovan tweeted that Mugabe, 93, is a 'very selfish and sick man' and claimed that he was surviving on a catheter. US Bishop Who Defied Social Distancing Dies After Contracting Covid-19, Church Says

A Virginia bishop who defied warnings about the danger of religious gatherings during the pandemic and vowed to keep preaching “unless I’m in jail or the hospital” died over the weekend after contracting Covid-19, his church said. The bishop, Gerald O. Glenn, 66, the founder and pastor of New Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Chesterfield, Va., died on Saturday night, according to Bryan Nevers, a church elder. Mr. Nevers announced the death of Bishop Glenn during an Easter sermon, which was posted on the Facebook page of the Richmond-area Pentecostal congregation.
