17 people killed, dozens wounded as terrorists bomb a catholic church in Philippines (Photo)

Two bombs tore through a Roman Catholic cathedral in southern Philippines this morning Jan. 27th killing at least 17 people and leaving dozens wounded.  

Two suspected improvised explosive devices detonated in intervals at the Jolo Catholic cathedral in the Mindanao region, according to the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao. At least 56 people were wounded, initial reports said.

The first device went off inside the cathedral, and the second one targeted nearby soldiers who rushed to help the victims of the first explosion, Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesman Brig. Gen. Edgard Arevalo said.

The nation's military and the police are securing the area and all casualties were immediately evacuated, regional officials said. In a statement, Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana condemned the bombing and said he has directed troops to "heighten their alert level" and secure places of worship and public spaces.

A Nigerian lady reportedly lost a job after being photoshopped on a naked body in a tweet which went viral.  The photos was attached to a tweet describing how Marlians will be turning up for Naira Marley's concert which was held last night.  Commenting on the aftermath of the viral photo, Media personality Kimani disclosed that the lady lost the gig because she was blacklisted by the company that wanted to hire her.  She tweeted;  This is rather unfair, knowing this was Photoshopped. Sent this lady's handle to a client yesterday morning only to receive an email just now saying she's been blacklisted. Just coming here now to see this must have been the reason she lost the gig. Kimani also served an update on the action she took. She revealed that she sent in the real photo as an evidence to overturn the blacklisting.

Victims of domestic violence to enjoy paid leave in New Zealand

Victims of domestic violence in New Zealand will now be allowed to take up to 10 days paid leave from work to try to escape the abuse. This is part of a scheme to address the nation’s "shocking" levels of family violence.  Introducing the scheme, which is the first in the developed world, Greens MP Jan Logie, a member of the ruling Labour-led coalition, said the leave would help victims to move homes or settle children into new schools. She said it would also help to protect victims from abusers, who often stalked them at work or tried to sabotage their careers. Leading the pack is a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, who has forfeited some prized assets. Nigerian Fraudsters Jailed Over £610k Fraud In The U.K

A gang of Nigerian fraudsters who stole £610,000 from business bank accounts have been sentenced. Inner London Crown Court heard how Victor Oke, 39, used stolen data provided by Desmond Uyiosa Abifade, 25, to falsely impersonate company directors via telephone banking. Once Oke gained access, he diverted funds to ‘mule’ beneficiary accounts monitored by Moses Kuye, 28. Melinda Mensah-Oke, 37, impersonated company directors when a female voice was necessary, while Arinola Kuye, 27, acted as the group’s money launderer.All five were charged with conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation, which they pleaded not guilty to. On Wednesday, Oke was sentenced to four years in prison, while Moses Kuye was jailed for three years and three months.Mensah-Oke received a fourteen month suspended sentence and Abifade a two year suspended sentence. Arinola Kuye was given a12 month community order and instructed to complete 50 hours of unpaid work.
