Nigerian migrant commits suicide in Italy by jumping under a train after his request for residency permit was rejected

A 25-year-old Nigerian man, Prince Jerry, committed suicide on January 28 2019, by jumping under a train in Tortona, Genoa, Italy after his request for a residency permit for humanitarian reasons was rejected, Monsignor Giacomo Martino, the head of association Migrants, said on Thursday.

Martino, who is in charge of the association that helps migrants in the port-city, made the announcement in a chat group with his parishioners.

The message was subsequently shared on social media Wednesday night and published by local newspapers on Thursday.

Jerry's funeral will be held Friday morning, at the Chiesa dell'Annunziata in Genoa.

Meanwhile some of Jerry's friends have taken to Facebook to mourn him. Read posts below.

Judgement on P&ID $8.9billion Gas Contract Is A Daylight Robbery – Magu The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced an investigation into the circumstances leading to the $8.9billion arbitral award against Nigeria by a United Kingdom Court over alleged breach of gas contract agreement between it and Process and Industrial Development Limited. Men have been warned to be careful of the ladies they take home from nightclubs or bars following an incident which has gone viral on social media. According to reports, a lady in a bid to rob a man who took her to his home, allegedly drugged him after a drinking spree. It was gathered that the yet-to-be identified lady was already stealing his household items after the man passed out but was caught by the neighbors who saw her in action. The lady was apprehended by the neighbors but rescued by the police who prevented her from being lynched, according to reports. Abdullahi Babalele, son-in-law of Atiku Abubakar was docked today on a new charge of laundering $140,000. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission who brought him before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, did not state the recipient of the money, but it fits the N50million gift sent by Atiku to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, days before the election. Babalele faces a two-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of $140,000.00. He allegedly persuaded one Bashir Mohammed, a Bureau De Change( BDC) operator, to make a cash payment of the sum of $140,000 without going through any financial institution, an offence contrary to Section 18(c) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 as amended and punishable under Section 16(2)(b) of the same Act.
