Nigerian migrant commits suicide in Italy by jumping under a train after his request for residency permit was rejected

A 25-year-old Nigerian man, Prince Jerry, committed suicide on January 28 2019, by jumping under a train in Tortona, Genoa, Italy after his request for a residency permit for humanitarian reasons was rejected, Monsignor Giacomo Martino, the head of association Migrants, said on Thursday.

Martino, who is in charge of the association that helps migrants in the port-city, made the announcement in a chat group with his parishioners.

The message was subsequently shared on social media Wednesday night and published by local newspapers on Thursday.

Jerry's funeral will be held Friday morning, at the Chiesa dell'Annunziata in Genoa.

Meanwhile some of Jerry's friends have taken to Facebook to mourn him. Read posts below.

The FBI has launched an investigation after hackers hijacked Twitter accounts of a number of high-profile US figures in an apparent Bitcoin scam. "The accounts appear to have been compromised in order to perpetuate cryptocurrency fraud," said the bureau, urging the public to be vigilant. Elon Musk, Bill Gates and Joe Biden were among those hit in what Twitter said was a "co-ordinated" attack. Their official accounts requested donations in the cryptocurrency. Nigerian Born Doctor Over Hydroxychloroquine As Covid- 19 Cure US based physician and immunoplogist, Anthony Stephen Fauci, on Tuesday dismissed the validity of hydroxychloroquine as a Covid- 19 cure. The reaction comes after the US president, Donald Trump shared a tweet of Nigerian doctor, Stella Emmanuel, who claimed the drug was a potential cure for the virus. Although the viral tweet has been deleted by Trump, many experts have described the claim as fraudulent. The drug had earlier been discredited by the World Health Organisation. Woman Kills Her Husband By Squeezing His Manhood In Edo State

Men of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a middle-aged woman identified as Eki Ekhator for allegedly killing her husband by squeezing his manhood. The incident was said to have happened at Ukhiri community in Ikpoba-Okha local government area. Sources said the woman had a quarrel with her late husband after accusing him of infidelity. She was said to have always had fracas with her husband any time he returned home late. On that fateful day, the source said the deceased slapped his wife after a fracas and the woman went for his trousers and held onto his manhood in a violent manner. The man was said to have collapsed and later confirmed dead at the hospital. It was learnt that men of the Homicide department in the Edo state police command are currently investigating the murder. Sources at the police headquarters said the suspect has blamed the incident on the devil. Police spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, could not be reached for comments.
