A 24-year-old man, on death row for the rape and murder of eight-year-old Zainab Ansari in Pakistan earlier this year, has been given death penalty on five more counts for the rape and murder of three other girls.

Zainab was abducted, raped and murdered in Kasur earlier this year. Her body was found at a garbage pile along a road on January 9.

The sentence was announced by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in a trial conducted by Judge Sajjad Ahmed inside the KothLakhpat jail on Monday.

Imran Ali, a resident of Kasur city, was involved in at least nine incidents of rape-cum-murder of minors, including Zainab, which he had confessed to during her murder investigation.

Ali was also ordered to pay a massive fine. His failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six months of imprisonment, the court said.

On Saturday, he was given death sentence on 12 counts for the rape and murder of three other minor girls. The court reserved verdict in three other rape and murder cases... Aiba Umar,  Batool and Ayeesha Asif.

Zainab's rape and murder had sparked outrage and protests across the country. The girl went missing on January 4 and was found dead in a trash heap in Kasur on January 9.

The government had declared Ali's arrest on January 23. He was given death sentence for Zainab's rape and murder in February.

He challenged it but the apex court rejected his appeal on June 12, saying that the petitioner had admitted committing similar offences with eight other minor victims.
Ali still has the right to seek clemency from President Mamnoon Hussain.
According to Prosecutor Abdul Rauf Watoo, Imran took lives of many young girls after sexually assaulting them.
He kidnapped 12-year-old Ayesha Asif from Kasur B Division and assaulted her in an under construction building before taking her life.

On February 24, 2017, Imran kidnapped four-year-old Eman Fatima from a park,  assaulted her before killing her.

He also kidnapped seven-year-old Noor Fatima on April 11, 2017 from Kasur Ameen Town and assaulted her in under construction building before killing her.

On July 8, 2017, he further kidnapped eight year old Laiba Umer from Basti Khadimabad and assaulted her in under construction building before taking her life.

In addition to these murders,  Imran kidnapped eight year old Noreen from Hayatabab on July 9, and killed her after the assault near Mori Gate.

In November 2017, Imran kidnapped six year old Kainat Batool from Kasur Garden and raped her overnight before dumping her,  what he thought was her dead body. However,  Kainat survived but still remains in critical condition to this day and is under treatment.

Agents with U.S. Customs and the Drug Enforcement Administration have seized $18 million dollars’ worth of cocaine disguised as banana heading to a prison in Texas.   According to reports, the Wayne Scott Unit Prison Farm outside of Freeport, Texas, received a couple pallets of bananas as a donation. When two sergeants went to pick up the pallets, they found the drugs.   “One of the sergeants noticed one of the boxes didn’t seem quite right, looked a little further, removed that box off the pallets, looked inside and saw something extraordinarily suspicious,” Jeremy Desel with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice told KTRK.   Hidden under bundles of bananas were 540 kilos of cocaine. The Libyan Navy has rescued 199 illegal immigrants, including women and children, while attempting to reach Europe by sea. "A Libyan Coast Guard patrol rescued 179 men, 16 women and 4 children on board rubber boats in the middle of the sea," the Information Office of the Libyan Navy explained. The office added that the immigrants were of different African nationalities, including Nigeria. Four of them were from Egypt. The migrants were handed over to the immigration HQ of the Immigration Control Agency after providing them with humanitarian and medical assistance, according to the Information Office of the Libyan Navy.

An American woman in Zimbabwe has been jailed for 'insulting' President Robert Mugabe by allegedly tweeting an image of him which suggested he has a catheter from an anonymous account which was still active as she languished behind bars on Saturday. Mullah Nangyalay was killed but local officials say the attack also hit dozens of innocent bystanders. FBI Declares 6 Nigerians Wanted For $6 Million Fraud

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking assistance in finding six Nigerians who the United States indicted for fraud. The bureau took to its Twitter handle to solicit help in finding the six men who are wanted for “their involvement in ​business​ email ​compromise (BEC) schemes resulting in over $6 ​million in losses”. “Help the #FBI find ​six Nigerian nationals wanted for their involvement in ​business​ email ​compromise (BEC) schemes resulting in over $6 ​million in losses,” it wrote. Yobe State police commissioner says Boko Haram has killed at least 235 officers in the state

The Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, Abdulmaliki Sumonu has said that no fewer than 235 officers of the command had been lost to the Boko Haram insurgency in the last six years. He made the revelation at the investiture of an award on him by a non-governmental organisation, Actors Security Watch Organisation. Sumonu said the award was in recognition of services rendered by living officers and officers who died in defence of the nation. “This award is not just for the commissioner of police, but the entire police command for serving the nation diligently,” he said. The commissioner said that the award would serve as a tonic to the police to put in their best in the service of the country. He said that the command derived its inspiration from the higher police authorities. “This leadership gives every policeman a sense of belonging and fulfillment,” he said.

The organisers of the planned academic conference on witchcraft planned for Nsukka next week are looking for another venue after the University of Nigeria withdrew the approval for the use of its Energy Centre. The director of the centre wrote conference organisers withdrawing the approval, amidst the opposition by Christian students and the Christian Association of Nigeria against the conference.
