I Will Deport Nigerians, Africans Without Papers In Italy" - Toni Iwobi

Against all odds, against the political permutations of Italian politics, Italy has elected its first black senator, a Nigerian immigrant who is a member of the country’s far-right, anti-immigrant League party.

Toni Iwobi, the head of the party’s immigration department, was elected on Sunday (March 4) in Brescia, an industrial city in northern Italy. His election didn’t go down well with some people who slammed his choice to work against his own fellow immigrants. Iwobi’s party is an anti-immigrant party that has campaigned vigorously against the integration of African immigrants in the past.

His party has explored several means whereby the influx of African immigrants into Italy can be halted Iwobi, 62, came to Italy in the 1970s on a student visa, got married to his Italian wife and became a councilor for the party in 1995. Iwobi said that he wasn’t against immigration but that he wanted people to travel to Italy.

However the first black senator vowed to deport all immigrants who are living in Italy illegally most especially his fellow Nigerians. Nigeria has the highest number of immigrants in Italy, last year alone over 17,000 crossed the Mediterranean sea into Italy.

U.S. Journalist Jailed In Zimbabwe For Insulting Mugabe On Twitter

An American woman in Zimbabwe has been jailed for 'insulting' President Robert Mugabe by allegedly tweeting an image of him which suggested he has a catheter from an anonymous account which was still active as she languished behind bars on Saturday. Martha O'Donovan, 25, was arrested on Friday morning at her home near Harare, the country'scapital, and was taken into custody on a charge of insulting or undermining the president and trying to overthrow an elected government.Police say that on October 11, O'Donovan tweeted that Mugabe, 93, is a 'very selfish and sick man' and claimed that he was surviving on a catheter. Borrusia Dortmund have confirmed that Christian Pulisic has joined Chelsea in a £58m deal. The USA International will move to the Stamford Bridge in the summer after an agreement to stay with Dortmund until the end of the season. Nigerian ‘pirate’ Boss To Be Extradited To The Netherlands

A 27-year-old suspected Nigerian "pirate' syndicate boss, Itoruboemi Benson Lobia, is set to be extradited to the Netherlands for prosecution. According to Timeslive, the move follows a ruling by South Africa’s Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Friday. Lobia was arrested by South Africa’s Interpol branch at the OR Tambo International Airport, in November, 2018, while seemingly fleeing to Mauritius following his most recent attack. The crew of the Dutch cargo ship FWN Rapide was kidnapped in April 2018 while travelling between Ghana and Nigeria, held hostage for three weeks before being released following an intensive negotiation process. The Dutch government has insisted Lobia was the leader of the pirate group, and suspects he may have also been responsible for other similar attacks and running a syndicate with international connections. Lobia said he was hired by the Nigerian army, as a ships security officer, in charge of protecting the Nigerian waterways.
