Barcelona icon, Xavi 'agrees £5.4m-a-year deal' to replace Quique Setien as new manager of the club

Barcelona icon, Xavi has reportedly agreed to replace Quique Setien as the new manager of the Spanish giants. 

 

Setien, 61, has been under intense pressure since replacing Ernesto Valverde in January, and there are speculations that the club's board have already decided to sack him in order to pave the way for Xavi. 

 

According to Mundo Deportivo, a "firm agreement" has been finalized and it would see Barcelona pay Xavi, 40, a bumper £5.4million per year. He is expected to take up the reins at the end of the season.   

 

The legendary Spanish midfielder, who joined the club at the age of 11, made 767 first-team appearances for Barcelona, scoring 85 goals with 182 assists. He also won eight league titles, four Champions Leagues and three Copas del Rey, as well as two Club World Cups.

U.S. Journalist Jailed In Zimbabwe For Insulting Mugabe On Twitter

An American woman in Zimbabwe has been jailed for 'insulting' President Robert Mugabe by allegedly tweeting an image of him which suggested he has a catheter from an anonymous account which was still active as she languished behind bars on Saturday. Martha O'Donovan, 25, was arrested on Friday morning at her home near Harare, the country'scapital, and was taken into custody on a charge of insulting or undermining the president and trying to overthrow an elected government.Police say that on October 11, O'Donovan tweeted that Mugabe, 93, is a 'very selfish and sick man' and claimed that he was surviving on a catheter. Chelsea Signs Christian Pulisic From Borrusia Dortmund For £58m!

Borrusia Dortmund have confirmed that Christian Pulisic has joined Chelsea in a £58m deal. The USA International will move to the Stamford Bridge in the summer after an agreement to stay with Dortmund until the end of the season. Nigerian ‘pirate’ Boss To Be Extradited To The Netherlands

A 27-year-old suspected Nigerian "pirate' syndicate boss, Itoruboemi Benson Lobia, is set to be extradited to the Netherlands for prosecution. According to Timeslive, the move follows a ruling by South Africa’s Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Friday. Lobia was arrested by South Africa’s Interpol branch at the OR Tambo International Airport, in November, 2018, while seemingly fleeing to Mauritius following his most recent attack. The crew of the Dutch cargo ship FWN Rapide was kidnapped in April 2018 while travelling between Ghana and Nigeria, held hostage for three weeks before being released following an intensive negotiation process. The Dutch government has insisted Lobia was the leader of the pirate group, and suspects he may have also been responsible for other similar attacks and running a syndicate with international connections. Lobia said he was hired by the Nigerian army, as a ships security officer, in charge of protecting the Nigerian waterways.
