Grandmother charged with first-degree murder after baby was found stabbed and placed in hot oven

A grandmother has been arrested after her granddaughter was stabbed and placed into a hot oven.
The baby was found on Monday night and Carolyn Jones, 48, was arrested on Tuesday. The Mississipi grandmother is charged with first-degree murder for the death of her granddaughter in Shaw, Mississipi, Bolivar County Sheriff Kelvin Williams confirmed to NBC News on Tuesday.
The victim, 20-month-old Royalty Marie Floyd, was found by a relative who then contacted the Shaw Police Department. Upon arriving at the scene, the police contacted the Bolivar County Sheriff's Office for assistance.
Royalty was living with her grandmother before her death. It is unclear where the girl's parents were at the time.
Jones had a court appearance Tuesday evening and was given a $500,000 bond.
When asked why Jones might have possibly killed her granddaughter, Williams told reporters:
We're trying to figure that out ourselves. We have no idea at this point. Again, we might get some closure once we sit down with the investigator and once they present that to a judge for official charges.

Facebook Headquarters Evacuated Following Bomb Threat

Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California has been evacuated after a bomb scare. The building housing employees for both Facebook and Instagram was emptied after police received an anonymous phone call alerting them about the threat. Local police were on site quickly and swept the building for explosives. They later issued an update that the building has been given the all clear. There were no bombs or suspicious packages discovered at the social media giant’s headquarters.

Militants linked to the Islamic State (IS) group have hoisted their flag in a Nigerian town after seizing control of it, three residents have told the BBC. Hundreds of people have fled the fishing town of Baga after the militants overran it on Wednesday night, the residents said. The militants seized weapons from a military base, and torched a naval base on the shores of Lake Chad, they said. The military denied Baga had fallen, saying the attack had been repelled. The Managing Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde narrowly escaped death after an American Airlines plane she boarded from Argentina to the U.S., made an emergency landing in the Argentine airport on Sunday due to malfunction.
